I know you care about the sweet child at the orphanage with those big brown eyes…
But
Do you care about her mom gave her up after fighting so hard to keep her alive?
Her dad who worked in the field to try to provide food for the day?
Her friends and neighbors who sang and danced the day she was born?
Her sister who she skipped along the road with to buy fresh bread? The one who braided her hair.
Her brother who first kicked a ball with her and showed her how to make a toy car from a Tampico bottle?
Her grandma who helped raise her, bathe and snuggle her?
Her aunts, uncles and cousins who know her, celebrated with her, played with and taught her?
Her FAMILY who she laughed, cried and sang with. The ones who hugged her, tucked her in at night and love her.
They’re real people. With feelings and emotions and heartbreak.
Poverty Orphan is just a different way to say poor kid. An orphan is someone with no living parents. A poverty orphan is a child who has poor PARENTS.
Being poor is hard. Losing your kids because you’re poor is heartbreaking.
Keep kids with their family. Send kids to school. Create jobs.
Don’t destroy families.
